Hair dye disaster for Kate Moss as she reveals greying locks at handbag launch

Posted by Admin, on January 28th, 2010, under TRICHOLOGIST, YOUTUBE

Either the old lady look is in this season or Kate Moss’s stylist has been clumsy with her highlights.

The supermodel was sporting what looked like grey streaks in her blonde hair as she launched a range of handbags in Paris yesterday.

Not the most flattering look for a 36-year-old but with Kate being ever the trendsetter, don’t be surprised if it soon becomes all the rage.

Bad hair day? Kate Moss sports grey streaks in her hair – thought to be a styling mishap – as she launches a handbag collection for Longchamp in Paris yesterday

Dressed in black towering Louboutin stilettos, she showed off her still impressive legs in a very mini black lace dress, as she arrived at the Ritz Hotel in Paris to launch the collection.

Accompanied by fiance Jamie Hince, she was all smiles as she posed and chatted with Longchamp CEO Jean Cassegrain and Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine.

Moss has designed a collection of bags for French leather and luxury goods company Longchamp, ranging from clutches to travel holdalls under three themes – Rock’n'Casual, Rock’n'Travel and Rock’n'Glam.

The brand is probably best known for its Pliage line of coloured fold-up nylon and leather totes – arguably one of the world’s most popular bags since its 90s launch with 2.5 million sold a year.

Leggy: Kate showed off her legs rather more than the bags which seemed to go on forever as she arrived at the Ritz Hotel in Paris

Kate said her ideal bag needs to be comfortable and light, and added: ‘I carry so much stuff my bags are full to the brim.’

And having modelled for the 52-year-old company for the last four years, Moss said she felt comfortable stepping behind the scenes as a designer.

‘We get on well together. It was a fabulous opportunity for me.’

The advertising campaign runs with the tag lines: ‘Don’t You Wish Your Bag Was Hot As Kate’s?’, ‘An Absolute Moss-have’, ‘Kate Is Not A Plastic Bag’ and ‘My Moss Bag Brings All The Boys To The Yard’.

And the model will feature heavily in the bag’s advertising, with a behind the scenes video of the sexy shoot recently released on YouTube.

And it won’t be a one-off collection for Kate after Cassegrain said he was aiming for a long-term collaboration with Kate,as her first collection hits Longchamp boutiques and a few select department stores, including Selfridges in London, on February 11.

Kate had a busy day in Paris, which is currently hosting its Haute Couture Week, as she caught up with her old friend Stella McCartney.

She checked out Stella’s autumn/winter ready-to-wear collection, which was shown at the British embassy.

Kate looked fresh faced and cheery as she made her entrance at the show wearing a green jacket over a black top, jeans and suede boots.

She topped off the smart ensemble with a studded belt and a compact black shoulder bag.

Accompanied by Hince,  Kate took time out to have a catch up with her designer friend whom she has modelled for in the past.

In fact, Kate took part in Stella’s graduate show when she was still a mere student at St Martin’s College of Art and Design in London.

The show also included appearances from Naomi Campbell and Yasmin Le Bon.

Now, some 15 years later, Stella is an accomplished designer, displaying her wares across the globe attracting a huge following.

Last year Kate modelled for Stella’s Spring collection in a campaign shot by Ryan McGinley in Puerto Rico.

Kate Moss and her fiancé are staying at the Ritz hotel in Paris. The couple got engaged earlier this month when The Kills rocker proposed to her on her birthday.

She began dating Hince just three months after she finished with Babyshambles star Pete Doherty in 2007, and the couple have had a somewhat turbulent relationship.

A friend said of the proposal: ‘Kate was stunned, Jamie called her up and told her not to come home. He said he was flying out to Mustique.

‘He had carefully picked a ring and chose her birthday to propose.

‘It was the first time they had been alone together in quite a while and it was extremely emotional.

‘Kate and Jamie are in a very good place, they already live together and this is the next step to settling down for good.’

Hair Cloning Not Yet Recommended by Researchers Who Developed the Technique

Posted by Paul, on January 28th, 2010, under HAIR LOSS SCIENCE

A hair cloning technique that regenerates dormant hair follicles to produce new growth is not being recommended by the researchers who demonstrated its potential, because it is still in the early stages of development and effective hair loss treatment options are already available.

(PRWeb UK) January 28, 2010 — Researchers and hair restoration surgeons Dr Gary Hitzig and Dr Jerry Cooley created a technique that multiplies the number of hair follicles in an area that had been dormant using an FDA-cleared wound healing powder, but they stipulate it is not fool-proof yet.

“It appears to stimulate copying or ‘cloning’ of surrounding tissue to fill in a defect. However, this does not always occur, and I am conducting research to determine the best way to use the ACell to maximise success,” Dr Cooley said.

ACell’s MatriStem MicroMatrix powder was traditionally intended for diabetic ulcers, second degree burns and surgical wounds, but researchers say it has the potential to cause site-specific tissue regeneration that could be useful in hair restoration surgery.

“We have made amazing breakthroughs using MatriStem as a hair cloning tool,” Dr Hitzig said. “We”ve been able to multiply the number of hair follicles growing in the recipient area, and as an added benefit are seeing faster hair growth. This new hair cloning technique also makes hair transplantation surgery less invasive.”

Presently there are many obstacles that prove challenging with this technique, but if the procedure becomes available it will involve surgical implantation of externally engineered tissue cells into the scalp, meaning one would have to lose their hair before doing anything about it.

While the results of preliminary studies prove promising and the technique could be beneficial for those who have run out of traditional hair for transplantation, Dr Cooley says hair cloning is not the cure for baldness yet.

Zola’s Hair Loss

GIANFRANCO Zola yesterday claimed he had picked up five years’ experience in his traumatic 18 months as boss of troubled West Ham.

But the Italian said his testing time had helped make him as a manager – even if it had put years on him and accelerated his hair loss.

The Italian even joked rival managers who told him he was going to have a good time at Upton Park needed their heads examined.

It’s been a tough time for former model Gail Porter since she was diagnosed with Alopecia five years ago.

But things are looking up for the 38-year-old, who is not only delighted with her regrowth, but also has a new boyfriend.

“I’m getting very hairy so that must mean I’m quite happy now,” says Gail, who has been dating New Vinyl guitarist – aka Jonny Davies – for four months.

“I’m getting very hairy so that must mean I’m quite happy now,” says Gail, who has been dating New Vinyl guitarist – aka Jonny Davies – for four months.

‘We’ve been keeping it quiet though. I’ve got a bit of hair and a bit of a boyfriend and I’m very happy,” she told the Daily Mail after posting these pics on Twitter.

Last summer the Scottish mother-of-one revealed the end of her four-year relationship with cameraman James Lloyd on the social networking site, telling followers that she had been up crying all night.
